Find Out What Television Is Right For You

The televisions market is one of the most competitive of all the audio visual markets. The continual technological developments render models obsolete within a year then you are back to square one facing baffling technology and grossly inflated prices. This article offers an impartial price and feature comparison of three of the latest models of televisions.
First up we have the LG 42LG6100 from Scarlet, which is a bit of a mouthful. It is best not to have your mouthful when you hear the price as you might choke, at 1200GBP RRP this is one expensive temptation. It has a wafer thin HD ready 42 inch screen with all the trimmings. It is sleek and stylish boasting four HDMI, excellent colour quality and TruSurroundXT audio. It seems to have a slight judder issue with Blue Ray disks however as it can be picked up for around 850GBP online it is a real temptation.
Next up the battle of the model names is the Toshiba 37XV505D televisions which comes in at reasonable RRP of 850GBP. This is HD on a budget and it does show in certain areas of picture quality as you can experience a small amount of picture noise in certain functions and there is occasional colour banding. There are deep black levels providing vivid colours and it has easy set-up and menu options however overall the picture difficulties are hard to ignore. It can be picked up for around 600GBP now so could be a good jumping off point for a first time HD users.
Next we have the latest from Philips Ambilight which wins the complicated model number competition with 37PFL9603D. It is a fantastic television judder-free Blue-ray pictures, four HDMI inputs and great sound quality that is bass heavy. It comes in at a whopping 1500GBP so you have to pay for the picture quality, the remote is a nightmare and there are problems with PC Networking functions but as far as televisions go this is the daddy. It is well worth the investment as it has a feel of a model that will stand the test of time.
Generally with televisions you get what you pay for and much of the consumer decision should be based on your budget and requirements. If you are looking for an all singing, all dancing model that can be hooked up to your PC then it is advisable to pay a bit extra to ensure quality however if you have basic requirements then you can save a large amount of money by purchasing a generation down online.

HDTV – Finding the Right LCD Wall Mounts

Many modern entertainment centers do not have a place to mount an HDTV using the stand that they generally come with. Even if they do, that is space that could be used for something else, such as more audio and video components, video games consoles, or other decorative type items. Besides, mounting an HDTV on the wall itself brings it up to eye level, and just plain looks better in most people’s opinion. The idea of mounting that beautiful, expensive HDTV five feet in the air on sheer drywall is a bit unnerving, though. Images of two thousand dollar flat screen HDTVs falling to their death are not pleasant, to say the least, especially for those of us who cannot afford to just go out and buy another. Also, the backs of some HDTVs look completely different than others, and it’s not always easy, or even possible, to find a wall mount made specifically for a single model of TV. This is why it is so important to use the right wall mounts for your HDTV. The first thing one should do when looking to purchase an HDTV wall mount is try to find one that matches their model exactly. The model can typically be found on the back of the television, and may be a mix of letters and numbers, usually including the size of the TV in it somewhere. If you find a string of numbers and letters that include “42″ in it, and you have a 42 inch television, then you can be pretty sure you’ve found the model number. A quick Google search of the number will give you an idea; if it brings up tons of results with people talking about your TV, or even a picture of your TV, then it is most assuredly the model number. There may be a longer string of letters and numbers associated with the model as well, but generally taking the shortest part of the model number that includes your television’s size will give the best results when searching for wall mounts. Using that information, try searching for the model number plus the term “wall mount”. Alternatively, if you purchased the TV online, you may be able to just go straight to the website you bought the TV from and grab a wall mount made specifically for that TV. If you purchased the HDTV locally, try calling the store you bought it from and asking if they have a wall mount for that television. If all else fails, try contacting the manufacturer directly to see if they can sell and ship one to you. Their number is usually on the back of the television somewhere. The very last resort is to buy a generic wall mount but only if you have to, if you do double check all measurements a couple of times. It’s important the weight capability is correct on the wall mount, after you mount it pull on the TV a bit to be sure it’s snug and tight. This is crucial because you don’t want the wall mount that’s for a lighter television, it could be a safety issue.
