I just bought a 42 inch vizio lcd hdtv 1080p, how do I know my hd channels are coming in at 1080p. (if that makes sense)

Recently I purchased a 42 inch sylvania 1080p at black friday but am unhappy with it and found out I can return it to the store without paying a restocking fee. I’m currently looking for a better one and saw this:

It has a “big picture” mode which makes the picture bigger by like 10%. Anyone know about these tvs or have one?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had good/bad experiences with, or are able to recomen any tvs that are
1. LCD
2.42 inch +
3.1080P and
4.At, around, or preferrably less than $1500.00

I will be watching movies, gaming, and using as a computer monitor on occasion. I also expect the tv at this cost to last no more than 3 years with usage of about 4 hours a day.

Any recomendations?

I have considered the westinghouse brand, because I have a lcd monitor I am happy with, and insignia because I have a insignia mp3 player I am happy with.

Okay, Well I have Logitech z-5500 speakers and a RNG110 HD box. The box has an optical output, so does my speakers, and TV. Whenever I switch to HDMI2 (xbox) The sound from HDMI(TV) is still on. I just switched the optical from my box and speakers to my tv and speakers, and now it works just xbox for HDMI2. I’m wonderinmg how I can plug it into my HD box, an just press HDMI2 and it’ll mute HDMI1. I’m thinking personally I need to hookup my xbox to my HD box somehow.

Any suggestions?

Well i have a 32 inch lcd 720p poloroid tv. I want to upgrade. My choices are a plasma 50 inch samsung 720p or 42 inch lcd poloroid 1080p. the difference in price is around $200. am i going to be happy with a 8 inch difference for 1080p or is it worth it to get the 50 inch that’s only 720p?
I mostly would use this tv for video gaming and i sit about 6.5 feet away. i could get as far back as 17 feet. I really would like the 50 inch. because paying 600$ just for a 10 inch difference doesn’t seem worth it
