My son took a knife to my 4 day old 42 inch Lcd tv….?

Is there any way that I may possibly be able to fix this myself? Most are just small scratches but there is one long line of the black film missing and rather than pay someone to fix it, is it possible to buy the film and replace it myself??

You should be more worried about fixing your son.
take a knife to your kid, that will prevent it from happening. lol jk.

I don’t exactly understand the condition of your T.V. However if he jus cut through the black/clear film of the screen you can have it replaced very cheaply, I’m sorry because you asked if it could be asked for free. But trust me, it would be very cheap if you just wanted to replace the black/clear film.
If you have young children, mount your tv higher out of reach for them. Iam afraid that there’s very little you can do to fix it. Repairing it will cost more, due to the labor charge technicians charge. You can email the manufacturer and see what the cost is for certain parts you need to replace, then call a technician for labor charge an hour. If it’s too expensive wait till you son get to be ten years old before buying another tv.
There is no “black film” on an LCD TV screen…. there is no film or anything on the screen that you can replace by yourself.
