I Have A 42 Inch Hp Lcd Tv, The Problem I Have Is It Wont Turn On With The Remote?

I have to hit the power button on the tv and simultaneously hit the volume up and down buttons furiously to get the tv to come on. This works about 60% of the time when i want it to. Sometimes the tv will turn off itself, but not usually. It has a great picture, i just don’t know if it’s worth getting it fixed. Anyone have any idea what it may be, could it be something simple like a short or loose wire?

i agree. sounds like the controller board. if it’s worth it to get fixed depends on how old that the tv is, and how much that you paid when you bought it. if it’s older than 4 years, i would just start looking for a new one. however, i would still inquire about fixing it with places. it can’t hurt, and if the repair is under 200, i would probably go for it.
Did you try to unplug it from the wall, wait and plug it back?
If this does not solve the problem (forces a reboot), looks like the “microcontroller board” may need to be replaced.
